چکیده
AbstractBackground and aims Presence of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) importantly contributes to excess mortality in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). However, it is unclear which dietary factors drive adverse role MetS KTRs. We aimed define a pattern that maximally explained variation components, investigate association between this MetS-related (MetS-DP) all-cause Methods results included 429 adult KTRs who had functioning graft ⩾1 year. A MetS-DP was constructed using habitual intake derived from 177-item food frequency questionnaire. used reduced rank regression (RRR), defined six components (waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic serum triglycerides, HbA1c, HDL cholesterol) as response variables 48 groups predictor variables. evaluated multivariable Cox analysis. The characterized by high intakes processed meat desserts, low vegetables, tea, rice, fruits, milk, substitutes. During mean follow-up 5.3 ± 1.2 years, 63 (14.7%) died. Compared lowest tertile Mets-DP score, those with greatest adherence more than 3-fold higher risk (hazard ratio [HR] = 3.63; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.70–7.74, P < 0.001), independent potential confounders. Conclusions identified independently associated mediated MetS. Clinical trial reg. no. NCT02811835

Serum erythropoietin level and mortality in kidney transplant recipients.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Posttransplant anemia is frequently reported in kidney transplant recipients and is associated with worsened patient survival. Similar to high erythropoiesis-stimulating agent requirements, resistance to endogenous erythropoietin may be associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients with ESRD. We examined the association between serum erythropoietin levels and mor...

Background: Although there are different tools in a coping context, lots of them are general and not applicable in every stressful situation such as transplant. Aim: The aim of this study is to develop and psychometrically evaluate a coping tool with kidney transplant in the Iranian context and culture. Method: In this sequential exploratory study, based on theoretical and practical definitions...

BACKGROUND Kidney transplantation is the renal replacement therapy of choice for most patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), however, adherence to the recommended lifestyle is critical for a positive prognosis. The purpose of this study was to assess adherence to immunosuppressive therapy and lifestyle recommendations along with some related factors among kidney transplant patients. MA...
